What it is & What it does
 
QUILL asks leaders to lead.
QUILL requests the very largest givers in the congregation – a very small number– serve as an ad hoc committee for two evenings to select a few names of other, relatively good givers and hand write a carefully worded personal letter to invite yet more generous giving. This is the "Demonstration Team". Of course, we tell you how to select these members. They will hand write personal letters, which QUILL supplies for them to adapt, written on personal stationery. We can also provide stationery for each team member if requested.

    Only the top 50% of present givers usually receive a handwritten letter. The balance of the givers receive either handwritten or personal, word processed letters from one of the larger givers. Of course, suggested specimen letters are provided. Included in each letter is a personal pledge card and return, postpaid envelope and a PERSONAL giving-goal-chart.

    The letter author of course, indicates his/her present pledge amount and the amount to which he/she is increasing his/her giving. The gist of the letter is simply: “Would you like to set your giving goal to join me/us so we can encourage others to better giving?”

    Naturally, you will expect and receive quite explicit directions for each step.  You will also expect to be willing to “think outside the box” about pledging and giving and expect to make an important difference in the lives of your members.
 
 The Mechanics
    Of course a good-giving layperson serves as QUILL Clerk, preparing all the personal stationery and other details. Optimally, this person is familiar with word processing and database management. However, QUILL was originally designed to operate without a computer and still may be used in that fashion. All instructions, each step, and optional reports to our QUILL office, are carefully spelled out and we are available by phone, e-mail or USPS mail to answer questions. There are bulletin inserts for each of three Sundays. One of the ad hoc committee "Demonstration Team" (3 persons from the team) witnesses his/her new-gift decision at each of three Sunday services. A different person/couple for each of three Sundays at worship following a most carefully prepared format provided in the QUILL program.  All pledges are dedicated on the final Sunday with a suggested ritual. Follow up procedures are carefully presented. Said one pastor "Your follow up guidance was worth the entire quill program."
    The net result after 22 years of churches using QUILL, is that the only churches who have not received a minimum 20% increase in pledging are that handful who made changes to the Control Manual and did not follow instructions.  This is why, upon request, we offer a warranty.  Your church will experience at least a 20% increase in pledging (usually more) or on request and submission of both pre and post quill reports, your fee is refunded.  To date we have never had to refund a single fee.  That minimum 20% increase simply means an additional $20,000 for each $100,000 presently pledged.  Well worth the small price of Full-Service QUILL the Personal Demonstration Stewardship Program..

Bulletin Inserts. Three (3) sets of unique, supportive bulletin inserts, one for each of three Sundays to include in the worship bulletin. The quantity dictated by your average worship attendance.
Unlimited  phone and/or E-mail consulting.  Thanks to modern technology we can now easily meet with your QUILL Clerk, pastor, QUILL Chair or entire Demonstration Team via "SKYPE" using a webcam to see documents and each other.  We have recently added a very detailed step-by-step set of e-mailable reports for the QUILL Clerk to use which will help him/her stay right on schedule. These reports are required if the warranty is requested. Use of the reports is strongly suggested and/or otherwise  may be used as a more detailed schedule.
